Liturgy & Family Faith Ministries

Liturgy Ministries

  • Acolytes   (Altar Servers)
Open to boys and girls, 4th grade and up.   Altar Servers assist the priest, deacon and assembly during parish liturgical celebrations.   This is an important ministry both of prayer and service.   Servers are called to be special, visible models of a prayerful spirit at Mass.   Training sessions are held yearly.   Altar Servers assist as scheduled at all weekly Masses, weddings, funerals, and school liturgies.   Altar Servers, dressed in Sunday best, need to arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass begins.
          Dick Schorr (Training):  654-4252
          Susan Garrett (Scheduling):  653-8027

  • Art & Environment   (Church Decorating)
This group of volunteers ensures that our church is appropriately decorated for each liturgical season.   They prepare the church for all Holy Week Services and decorate the interior and exterior of the Church for the Christmas/Easter Season.   Art & Environment ministry also assists in the selection and displaying of liturgical art within the Church.   Volunteers are always appreciated.
          Kathy Heck:  468-2605

    • Church Flowers
Fresh cut flower arrangements are placed on the Altar, around statues and in other areas as needed.   Please contact Jane about any special masses or special events to prevent over ordering of flowers.
            Jane Phillips:  687-5658

  • Bulletin Boards
Volunteers keep the bulletin boards free of clutter, take down out dated items, and decorate for the current season.
          St. Bernadette Parish Office:  654-1893

  • Church Cleaners
There is a small list of chores to keep our Church looking tidy, including light dusting and changing out the holy water fonts.   This ministry can include the whole family.   It takes about an hour a week, on a rotating basis.
          Marisa Darfus:  569-3318

  • Church Linen Washing
Volunteers take home the corporals and purificators to wash and iron.   This is on a monthly rotating basis and takes about an hour a week.
          Marisa Darfus:  569-3318

  • Church Ushers/Greeters
Our greeters work to ensure that all who attend Mass feel welcome as we extend a smile, offer a handshake and open the door as parishioners arrive for Mass and enter our beautiful church.   They also assist by helping people find a seat, gather the offerings, and when Mass is over hand out bulletins as people leave the Church.   Greeters may also answer questions or direct parishioners as needed.   Volunteers are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to their assigned Mass.
          Paul Dunphy:  867-1211

    • Gift Bearers
Individuals and families present the gifts of bread, wine and offerings at the altar during Mass.   Contact a Church Usher/Greeter prior to Mass.
            Paul Dunphy:  687-1211

  • Eucharistic Adoration
Christ himself is present in the sacrament of the altar.   He is to be honored with our worship of ADORATION in gratitude, to express our love and to be near Him.   If you are able to commit to one hour of scheduled prayer each week, please consider becoming a part of this very important ministry.   A parish with Eucharistic Adoration is alive in the Holy Spirit.
